Welcome to the SkillsUSA-Pennsylvania website. Your Executive Council hopes that you will find this site to have the information you need about our organization. Using proceeds from our fundraising efforts helps to maintain and update this site for our members. We designed this site not only to communicate important information for our members, but also to give information for future members and corporate sponsors.

About the SkillsUSA-Pennsylvania Alumni Association

The SkillsUSA-Pennsylvania Alumni Association consists of former SkillsUSA (V.I.C.A. – Vocational Industrial Clubs of America) secondary, post-secondary, and professional members. Our members have elected to dedicate their time, talents, and money in an effort to help the SkillsUSA-Pennsylvania Association and the National SkillsUSA Association.

Mission:

Through our involvement, programs, initiatives, and experience, we will help the SkillsUSA and SkillsUSA-Pennsylvania Associations prepare our students to become the workforce of tomorrow.

How We Help the SkillsUSA Organization:

  • We assist local chapters by providing experienced mentors to students in all trade areas
  • We assist at the local, district, regional, state, and national competitions/conferences serving as contest chairs, technical consultants, judges, support staff, etc
  • Our members serve on local Technical School Advisory Boards
  • We assist at Leadership Conferences by presenting a workshop(s), working behind the scenes, officer training, etc
  • We provide financial support for the SkillsUSA-Pennsylvania Association by purchasing new banners, new opening and closing ceremony equipment, etc
  • We sponsor two competitions by providing judges and prizes to the first, second, and third place winners
  • We contribute in many other ways too numerous to list

Vision:

Providing mentoring services, financial assistance, and experience will help our organization reach its goal of helping the SkillsUSA-Pennsylvania Association become a national leader in creating highly trained and skilled students. These students will become the workforce of tomorrow that will utilize the experience and training received at one of the Career and Technical Schools in Pennsylvania and involvement with the SkillsUSA Organization.

Benefits of Becoming a Member:

Joining our organization will provide you with a variety of benefits, such as:

  • Having the ability to meet and network with new people in your trade area
  • Having the ability to stay in contact with old friends
  • Having the ability to “give back” to the organization that has helped you in your professional and personal life
  • Having the ability to network with others in your professional field to obtain new jobs and opportunities
  • Having the ability to become a judge at the local, district, regional, state, and national levels
  • Having the ability to help at all levels through the school chapter or through the state association
  • Having the ability to continuously learn in order to improve your skills and make “Yourself” look more marketable to future employers

Membership Types:

We have a few different classifications of members for our organization. Each type comes with specific information, rights, and responsibilities.

  • Pre-Member – Current students who have not yet graduated from their school may become a member of our organization under this membership type. These members will become Active dues paying members upon their graduation from school. These members may not vote or hold office on the Executive Council. While these members may not vote or hold an office position, they may attend all official meetings and help with discussions on the future of the organization.
  • Active Members – Former members in the secondary, post-secondary, and professional levels may become Active Members in our organization. These members have the right to vote or hold office on the Executive Council. We encourage our Active Members to attend all official meetings to help with discussions and decisions that will shape the future of our organization.
  • Associate Members – People who have not graduated or participated in the SkillsUSA organization may become Associate Members in our organization. These members may not vote or hold office on the Executive Council. While these members may not vote or hold an office position, they may attend all official meetings and help with discussions on the future of the organization.
  • Lifetime Members – Members who wish to avoid having to pay for dues each year may become a Lifetime Member in our organization. A Lifetime Membership consists of a one-time payment of $100. These members have the right to vote or hold office on the Executive Council. We encourage our Lifetime Members to attend all official meetings to help with discussions and decisions that will shape the future of our organization.
  • Honorary Lifetime Members – Members who have made significant contributions to the SkillsUSA organization may become an Honorary Lifetime Member. The Executive Council will vote on who will receive this honor in our organization each year at the annual Pennsylvania State Skills Competition and Conference. We encourage Active and Lifetime Members to nominate someone for this distinction. Members who receive this distinction will not have to pay dues for the organization.

How to Join:

To join our organization, simply fill out an application and send it in with the appropriate dues to the address provided. You must pay your dues each year in order to remain active in the organization unless you purchase a Lifetime Membership.
