SkillsUSA-Pennsylvania Alumni - Alumni Fundraising

Overview

At the heart of any non-profit organization lies the ability to raise funds for programs and initiatives. Our organization relies on this type of funding so we have the opportunity to assist the State Association. The SkillsUSA-Pennsylvania Alumni Association falls under the Federal Guidelines as a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization.

What Happens to the Money:

All of the money collected with membership dues, in-kind contributions, corporate sponsors, matching gifts programs, etc is placed into a bank account for the Association. The Executive Council will then use the funds to pay for initiatives and projects that will benefit the association. Some of our expenses include the following:

  • Website hosting and domain name
  • Postage for mailed items to our members
  • Postage for mailed applications to advisors and students
  • Financial assistance to volunteers coming to the State Conference
  • Purchasing items for the State Association
  • Purchasing the awards for Outstanding Advisor and Student
  • Prizes for the current two sponsored contests at the state level
  • Special projects and gifts

Where the Funds Come From

Corporate Sponsors:

Corporate sponsors provide the Association with items such as discounts, free services, and in-kind financial donations. Without these partnerships, our organization would not have a strong financial future. If you would like to sponsor our organization, please contact our current President.

  • Kimberly Clark Corporation - Matching gift donation to the association from Marilynne Hinkel.
  • Dan E. Arndt Web Design - Provides free web development.
  • Surf-Erie - Provides web server space at a reduced cost.
  • Thompson Del-Mar Learning - Provides the Advisor of the Year Award.

Matching Gift Program:

Does your company offer a community partners and/or a matching gift program? This program enables employees to contribute to a non-profit organization, like our Association, and the company will match the contribution. For example, if you donated $1000.00 to our organization your company would match that gift thus giving the Alumni Association a $2000.00 gift. If you do not see your company listed but they do have this program, please contact Marilynne Hinkel to give us the name of your employer. Remember that all of our funds go to help the students in the state of Pennsylvania.
